We went to visit my brother this Thanksgiving. I didn't realize how much I missed Denton. I miss the trees. I miss the colors of fall. Don't get me wrong, I love Brownsville...But there are some things I miss about North Texas. I took Nikki to my old Alma Mater (TWU) and we walked over to the pond where we used to go when she was little to feed the squirrels. We got this great picture of some turtles sun bathing...

It was nice to see my brother and meet his new lady love. It was a short trip but full of nostalgia for me. I told Anna we have to make it a point to go visit more often....

The Annual Halloween party was held at Casa Mont-Fern. Thank you Josie and Fernie for putting together a great Halloween / Birthday party. The food was delicious as always. I especially loved the Just Dance challenge! We loved it so much we went and bought it! But Stephen, I have to say that seeing you do Tina Turner's Proud Mary in that little fat chef suit was just priceless!!! Love you Steve! And Winning for Sexiest Costume was not bad either...That wig sure did get around... :)

Wow! This semester has seemed to just fly by...I seems all we've done is drive Nikki to and from dance, but I guess we've managed to have some fun in between. For one, my birthday came and left me smack in the middle of - officially - middle aged! Thanks for all the birthday wishes! I love you all...

Melissa Ethridge Rocks!!! Anna got us tickets to see her in Houston - so we made a little weekend out of it. Nikki got to spend some time shopping with her Godmother Denise (who let her buy tight hoochie jeans - thank you! :P) and Anna and I went to the concert. It was awesome! She is a hard core rocker! She is just unbelievable with that guitar. We got to see a lot of "family" up in Houston and that is always nice. One thing I did not expect is just how WHITE she is...like truly powder white...super white... She a WHITE, white girl.

Oh and I forgot my camera! Could have kicked myself! So we had to take these pictures with our iPhones...not too bad... but she is sooo white that in some pictures her face didn't come out at all if the light hit her!

New York

167 Bainbridge in Brooklyn was home for seven days!

Ummmm.... It was a little windy the day we toured the Statue of Liberty.....

We had a BLAST in New York! Thanks Stephen for being our fearless leader during the trip! We stayed at a Brownstone in Brooklyn. It was roomy and the neighborhood was nice. At first the subways were SCARY, but everyone was surprisingly nice and helpful. Even some of the scariest looking guys were ready help if you so much as pulled out your subway map. We saw La Cage Aux Folles, The Jersey Boys, and The Lion King. Wicked was sold out, but we look forward to catching it in San Antonio. We saw Alexis Bledel getting off the subway in Brooklyn and Harry Connick Jr. getting out of his concert. He is pretty dreamy in person. :) We took the train to Coney Island and the rest of the gang had Nathan's famous hot dogs. (I had a chicken sandwich.) Anna danced on the Boardwalk - but she won't let me post the video! :D I haggled my way to a purse I wanted in China Town and had a great Gellato in Little Italy. We toured the Statue of Liberty.....man! getting tired again just listing all the things we did! Did I mention all the WALKING there is to do in New York. That has to be why we don't see any fat New Yorkers... They WALK EVERYWHERE! Up and Down the Stairs! It was fun - but exhausting... We plan to take Nikki in the Spring....A Train - here we come!

We are so happy for our friends Fernie and Josie! We wish you nothing but love and happiness. The wedding was beautiful and we were honored to be a part of it. I've never been a Ring Bearer before and I was nervous...Wow...This is it...You're married! Oh and Denise, we Boogied to Brick House in your honor!

We had a great time at the beach. It was the first time we went out for the summer. The water was not too cold or too choppy. It was great! We had a bucket of chicken, cold sodas and salty chips. Yes, it's officially summer... :)

Friday Night Flu!

I'm laying in bed waiting for my fever to break...I hate being sick...went to HEB earlier to pick up some dinner and came home with a fever and the chills...Anna is at the English dept. party and Nikki is a Grandma's...so what am I doing? Watching the Food Network... Is it the fever or is the Barefoot Contessa kinda hot? She's a big girl...loves to cook...has a great quiet "divaness" that just ooozzzesss out of her... Yeah... she's hot.... :)
